The Early Admissions Exercise (EAE) is an aptitude-based admissions exercise that allows students to apply and receive conditional offers for admission to the polytechnics based on their aptitudes and interests, prior to receiving their final grades. It gives the polytechnics greater flexibility to select and admit students on criteria other than their academic grades, thus allowing a wider range of talents to be recognised.
As part of EAE, EAE-i has been introduced to cater to final-year students from the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) who wish to apply for polytechnic admission based on their sustained interests and demonstrated aptitudes relevant to the course, apart from their Grade Point Average (GPA).
Successful applicants who have not received their final semester results will be given conditional offers, subject to them meeting the minimum qualifying GPA for the diploma course.

For the AY2017 polytechnic intake, ITE students in the final year of their Nitec or Higher Nitec courses in AY2016, including students who have completed their courses in June and September 2016, are eligible to apply for a place in the polytechnics through EAE-i.
For ITE students graduating in March 2017 who are found suitable for admission through EAE(I), they will receive a conditional offer from the polytechnic that they applied to. This conditional offer will be confirmed if the student meets the minimum GPA requirement for polytechnic admission, i.e. final net GPA of 2.0 for Higher Nitec qualification or 3.5 for Nitec qualification . ITE graduates from June, September and December 2016 found suitable for admission through EAE-i will receive a confirmed offer based on their final net GPA.
Those who confirm and accept their offers through EAE-i will not be eligible to take part in the Joint Polytechnic Admissions Exercise (JPAE) and other polytechnic admissions exercises.
For the AY2017 polytechnic intake, EAE-i applications will open from 11 January to 16 January 2017. Eligible and interested students should submit their applications online through the EAE-i portal at https://eae.polytechnic.edu.sg. Walk-in, e-mail and telephone applications will not be accepted by MOE or the polytechnics.
Students may select up to three courses in order of their preferences in their online applications. They are also required to provide a write-up for each choice that demonstrates their course-specific aptitude and interest.
The polytechnics will call up shortlisted students for further assessment, such as interviews and/or aptitude tests, from 18 January to 3 February 2017.
Students will be notified of their offers on 9 February 2017. They will have up to 14 February 2017 to indicate their decision on whether to accept or reject the offer via email. Should students fail to indicate their decision by the deadline, their offers will lapse, i.e. they will be deemed to have rejected the offer. Students who reject their offers or let them lapse can apply for polytechnic admission through JPAE.
Upon release of their final GPA, students who have accepted their EAE-i conditional offers and met the criteria will have their offers confirmed, and will not be eligible to take part in JPAE and other polytechnic admissions exercises. Students who do not meet the criteria will have their offers revoked. There will not be any appeals.
Applicants who are successfully offered a placement in RP are required to complete their enrolment processes to formally register themselves as an RP student. Please refer to the RP enrolment page at www.rp.edu.sg/enrolment for more details on your enrolment.
